Description

Along with 2619 West 2nd, 2631 West 2nd Avenue was built by Reginald Band in 1910, and designed by J.C. MacKenzie. The McGillivray family were long term residents of the house.

James Clark MacKenzie emigrated to Canada from Scottland in late 1907. He was active in Vancouver where his name can be linked with several substantial Tudor Revival houses which emulate the work of Samuel Maclure.

MacKenzie maintained his own office from 1909-1912 before forming a partnership in 1912 with A. Scott Ker. After WWI he formed a new partnership with William Bow in 1920-1922, then worked under his own name in Vancouver until 1929.
