Description

Built in 1898 with a different style on each floor, the Martin & Robertson Warehouse was originally a four-storey plus lower level Romanesque Revival masonry structure built for Martin and Robertson. The steady growth in the population and economy prompted Martin and Robinson to add two additional storeys in 1903 to accommodate their growing business in outfitting Klondike gold seekers.

Architect William Tinniswood Dalton designed both the original building and the addition. The contractor for the addition was Theodore Horrobin. By 1911 Martin & Robinson had moved to a new location.

The Northern Electric and Manufacturing Co. who hired Thomas Hopper to design changes in 1911, then used the building. The Canada Paint Co. was also located in the building.
