Description

This Craftsman house in First Shaughnessy, featuring porches on the main and second levels, was built in 1912 for A. S. Matthews and designed by A. Williams. The house was built by H.H. Fisher, who also built the Vancouver Heritage Register listed house at 3057 W 39th Ave. A.S. Matthews resided in the house until 1929. Later occupants of the house in the mid-20th century included W.P. Kirkpatrick and H.C. Wei Han.

This house appeared in an episode of the TV show “Psych” in 2007. Previous owners conducted a two-year renovation of the house starting in 2010, before listing the property for sale in 2014.

Marguerite Street was named after the Honourable Marguerite Kathleen Shaughnessy (1891-1958), daughter of Lord Shaughnessy, who was president of the CPR.
