Description

Very little is known about the designer or the original occupants of 4675 W 4th avenue. The date of construction may be 1911-1914. The house style reflects the popularity of the Craftsman home influenced by European and English Arts & Crafts movements across North America and the West Coast. Its first-storey is clad in glazed brick and upper story in cedar shingles, with dormer windows and deep eaves with curved beams. Many interior features survive including beveled leaded glass window transoms, fireplaces, fir wainscot paneling and handcrafted door hardware.

The surname Campbell is listed in 1930 after the amalgamation of Point Grey, South Vancouver and Vancouver. Owned by one family for 60 years- and for many years as a rooming house- the property has since 1995 been sympathetically restored and renovated by its owners. A Harbourview Retreat B&B operated here welcoming visitors to its wonderful view and country garden.
