Description

Built in 1905, 522 Union Street is an example of early boomtown apartments often seen in gold rush towns. This two-storey building was originally intended to house two units and later rearranged to include units as an affordable housing option for Asian working class residents. The clapboard front façade is decorated with door and windows on the first floor and two projecting bays on the second floor. In 1991-1992, the front façade was restored to repair the aged wooden window frames and wooden siding as well as to replace the broken double hung windows.
