Description
The original address of this house was 607 Grove Avenue. Grove Avenue lay south of Prior Street between Heatley and Jackson Avenues. In 1915-16, Grove Avenue became part of Atlantic Street, named after the Atlantic Ocean. The east end of False Creek was filled in by the Canadian Northern and Great Northern Railways, which affected a number of East End streets, including Grove and Bayview.
The first mention of this address in a city directory was in 1909. The occupant was Mark Bradbury, a logger. The Bradburys lived at this address until 1929.
In the 1930 city directory, the occupants are listed as “foreigners.” City directories give us a snapshot of the subsequent occupants: R. Baesso in 1935, P. Chaychuk in 1940, G. Bordignace in 1945.
