Description

This elegantly ornamented Victorian home was built circa 1900 when East Georgia (which was called Harris Street until 1916) was a bustling streetcar route heading to and from downtown. As a twin with the house next door, these sister houses have witnessed change over the years: they jointly lost their sleeping porches, they were raised to gain a proper foundation, the streetcar tracks were taken out and the block became a traffic calmed paradise.
The original owner was August Schwahn, but the first resident was Albert Prince, a carpenter.

856 East Georgia Street was a stop on the 2007 VHF Open Vancouver Heritage House Tour.
